This weekend will kick off a four day, coast-to-coast safety campaign on Interstates 90 and 94. South Dakota’s Highway Patrol will be participating in the campaign with more officers on the interstate to increase driver safety. Major Dana Svendsen says the effort spans from Washington state to New York.
He says that state troopers will be joined by local police to monitor I-90.
The challenge is part of the campaign by the International Association of Chiefs of Police. The year-long campaign aims to reduce traffic fatalities by 15% in 2014.
