The first set of regional women’s basketball rankings were release by the NCAA and the NSIC has four of the top ten team in the NCAA Central Region. Wayne State ranks fourth, followed by Minnesota State in fifth. Northern State is seventh while Concorida-St. Paul is eighth.
The NSIC, the Great American Conference (GAC) and the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) make up the NCAA Central Region again this year. The top eight teams the region will advance to the NCAA region tournament on March 14-15, 17. Automatic bids are granted to the winners of the NSIC, GAC and MIAA postseason tournaments, with the remaining five spots are awarded on an at-large basis. The NCAA Women’s Basketball Selection Show is set for 9 p.m. on March 9. The NCAA Elite 8 will take place on March 25-26 and 28 at Erie Insurance Arena in Erie, Pa.
