Waterways Council Wants WRDA Passage and Funding in Lame Duck

The Waterways Council will be monitoring Congress during the lame duck to make sure they get the recently passed Water Resources Development Act legislation conferenced. Council’s Senior Vice President Deb Calhoun says while it’s important this policy measure gets approved, they’re also working to make sure an appropriations bill gets passed to fund it.

She says they don’t expect the funding measure to be approved until after the lame duck session of Congress.

Calhoun says the WRDA legislation is very important for economic development and particularly for agriculture in getting commodities out to export markets.

Calhoun says for agriculture moving goods by barge is the most efficient and inexpensive way to get the job done, which is another reason WRDA needs to get approved and funded properly.
