This year has been a successful one for funding and development of inland waterway projects in the United States. That’s according to Deb Calhoun, Senior Vice President of the Waterways Council. She says besides passage of the Water Resources Development Act legislation, there were several other navigation projects that were funded by the feds.

She says another major project victory was when the President signed the FY 19 Minibus Appropriations bill.

Calhoun says having all those projects supported is very critical to the nation’s agricultural industry in getting commodities out to export markets.

Calhoun says it was positive having the WRDA measure passed as it’s now being approved on a two year basis which is critical for proper funding and maintenance of those inland waterway projects.
