Waterways Council Says President’s Budget Plan Falls Short Of Infrastructure Goals

This week President Donald Trump unveiled his infrastructure plan along with his 2019 budget proposal. Waterways Council Senior Vice President Deb Calhoun says the President’s budget and infrastructure plan would shift payment for inland waterways improvements from the federal government to a public private partnership which would involve a user fee.

She says the President’s 2019 budget proposal would involve a cut from what was proposed in 2018 for infrastructure.

Calhoun says there’s only one inland waterways project that would get funding under the President’s 2019 budget proposal.

Calhoun says her group will work with Congress to come up with adequate funding for inland waterways projects going forward.
