There remains marked differences between what the House is proposing and the Senate has passed for an infrastructure bill. The House measure contains many programs that are non traditional for infrastructure and is much more expensive than the Senate version. Waterways Council’s Director of Government Relations Dustin Davidson says the Senate version is a very good bill that contains much of what both parties want and would also be beneficial for lock and dam funding.
He says so far too much of the debate has gotten caught up in party politics.
Davidson says because both parties came together to come up with the Senate bill gives him hope the House can follow suit and come together as well to come up with a compromised piece of legislation.
Davidson says the Senate bill also has several of the environmental provisions the House has been looking for in their measure.
