Waterways Council Disappointed With President’s Budget

Waterways Council officials are disappointed by President Trump’s fiscal year 2020 budget proposal that calls for a 31 percent cut to U.S Army Corps of Engineer’s infrastructure projects. Waterways Council Senior Vice President Deb Calhoun says they’re not surprised with the funding move by the administration.

She says the budget request doesn’t fit with the President’s reported support for infrastructure improvements.

Calhoun is hoping they’ll be able to convince Congress that increasing funding for infrastructure and inland waterway projects is critical.

The FY 2020 budget proposal contains $4.8 billion for the Corp’s infrastructure projects, a decrease from the $7 billion appropriated in FY 2019.
