Watertown Teen Dead, Neighbor Held in Shooting

A 17 year old Watertown boy is dead following a neighborhood dispute Saturday night. Arrested and charged with second degree murder for the shooting death of 17 year old Jayden Harley is 31 year old Alexis Velazquez of Watertown. Assistant Watertown Police Chief Tim Toomey said officers were called to 4th Ave. Southwest in Watertown Saturday night at around at 8:50 p.m. He said the shooting followed a verbal encounter involving a noise complaint….

Toomey says the fatal shot came from a 45 caliber handgun, striking Jayden in the chest. The teen was transferred to Prairie Lakes Hospital, but died from his injuries:
The gun was licensed to Velazquez who was apprehended at his residence. Authorities say he gave no resistance. He is currently jailed at the Codington County Detention Center on a 50,000 dollar cash bond. Toomey said there had been ongoing disputes over noise in the neighborhood prior to Saturday’s incident and that numerous bystanders witnessed the shooting. He says that Jayden’s family opted to release his name…….
