The just passed federal budget bill includes more money for rural water projects, but no dollars specifically for the three state, Lewis & Clark Regional Water System. That project has struggled for construction funding for the past few years.
Executive Director Troy Larson says they will wait next for the budget proposal from the Obama Administration…
The project is about sixty five percent complete, but has been unable to do much construction for the past two years.

Larson says the states and cities involved have already paid their share of the project…
The project, which pumps water from wells south of Vermillion to towns and cities in South Dakota, Iowa and Minnesota will cost over a half billion dollars at the present construction pace.
