Water Project Could See More Money

Water Project Could See More Money

South Dakota Congresswoman Kristi Noem was able to get almost twenty nine million dollars added to the rural water project fund. The money was contained in the Energy and Water appropriations bill that passed the House last week. That would put more money in the fund that could go to the Lewis & Clark Regional Water Project.

Project Executive Director Troy Larson says while they welcome the money move, it is still far short of what they need…

Larson says the new money still doesn’t help them get much new pipe in the ground…

Larson says they don’t know yet how that money will be divided…

The project has about half their members connected to the main water supply. The project is designed to supply towns and cities in South Dakota, Iowa, and Minnesota from wells near the Missouri River south of Vermillion.
