Voters Approve Yankton School District Opt Out

Voters in the Yankton School District approved a property tax opt out by a fifty-four to forty six percent margin. Just under twenty seven percent of registered voters cast a ballot in Tuesdays election.

Yankton School Superintendent Wayne Kindle was thankful for the result..

The opt out is for one point eight five million dollars a year for four years.
Kindle says they will be careful with the added tax dollars…

Kindle says they will only use what they need to balance the budget….

The total vote was: 1965 yes and 1676 no. The opt out begins with next years taxes.
