A Nebraska Congressman worries that violence in the Middle East threatens the existence of an ancient faith community.

Congressman Jeff Fortenberry says Christians in the Middle East have been living under persecution for some time…made worse with the emergence of the Islamic State, which Fortenberry says has nearly wiped out Christians from the city of Mosul in northern Iraq.
Fortenberry says the violence threatens lives, but also removes a stabilizing force from the region.

Fortenberry proposes arming the Kurds to provide a protective zone for Christians and other minorities under attack.
