The purple seats are in at the Minnesota Vikings’ new stadium.

Construction of the $1.1 billion U.S. Bank Stadium in downtown Minneapolis has reached another milestone. Irwin Seating Company has installed more than 58,000 fixed seats and nearly 6,000 retractable seats.

Workers installed seating rails, seats, cup holders, aisle numbers and Vikings logos in nine months since drilling of the seat rails began last June. The seats are placed on a rail system, providing flexibility in either removing seats or moving them closer together to provide for additional seating.

The closest seats will be just 41 feet from the sideline. The seats range from 19 to 22 inches wide and from 33 to 35 inches between rows.

The Vikings will play their first game at the new stadium in August.
