Vietnam Trade Trip Already Resulting in Sales

The trade team that visited Vietnam last week led by USDA Undersecretary Ted McKinney is already reporting as much as $5 million in new sales. What helped spur the success of that trade trip was another one taken led by Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts about a month ago. Nebraska Pork Producers Association Executive Director Al Juhnke was part of that visit along with several other ag representatives.

He says the Vietnamese people have a large appetite for pork and their own country’s hog herds have been hit hard by African Swine Fever which they’re working to recover from. Juhnke says the U.S. can supply them the pork they need and want.

Juhnke says Governor Rickett’s trade team set the stage for Undersecretary McKinney’s trade group by beginning the process of developing those personal relationships which are so critical to successful trade.

Undersecretary McKinney’s trade team held over 600 meetings with buyers from Vietnam, Thailand and Myanmar.
