On Vice President Mike Pence’s recent trip to South Korea he signaled a redo of the current trade agreement with the United States. Pence says the trade deficit with South Korea has nearly doubled since the deal came into effect. Iowa Cattlemen’s Association President Mike Cline isn’t opposed to reworking trade deals as long as each country is treated fairly in whatever changes are made.
Minnesota State Cattlemen’s Association President Krist Wollum says it’s positive leaders are talking about trade with Pacific Rim export partners.
Wollum says moving toward bilateral trade agreements may end up benefiting U.S. agriculture.
The Trump administration is focused on reviewing each trade agreement and will not only work on bilateral pacts, but is in the process of redoing NAFTA.
