The White House has threatened to veto the House’s 2017 energy and water spending bill. Soy Transportation Coalition Executive Director Mike Steenhoek says that’s an issue since Congress has been making headway on providing funding for the inland waterway system.
He says his group will work with both the House and Senate to gather enough support to override any potential veto of the water funding legislation.
Steenhoek says his organization backs both the House and Senate water spending measures and believes they can be easily conferenced.
The House measure calls for $37.4 billion in spending for 2017. The Administration wants more funding for the advanced research projects agency, as well as energy efficiency and renewable energy programs.
