The Vermillion City Council passed a public face mask emergency ordinance in August that also asked businesses to post a sign saying, “Face Masks Requested.” That ordinance is reviewed at each council meeting.
City Manager John Prescott says they did that again this week….

Covid-19 infection numbers have steadily dropped in Clay County since the ordinance was passed. Prescott says compliance with the ordinance may have helped….

The ordinance does include fines of up to one hundred twenty nine dollars for violations. Prescott says so far, they haven’t had any to levy any fines…

Prescott says the emergency ordinance expires next month but he expects the council to extend it again.
