Utica Grain held on to its grain-buyers license….barely.
The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission decided against suspending the license but put a number of conditions on the company.
PUC staff had recommended the suspension following audits of the company.
Commissioner Chris Nelson says he was ready to pull their license…

Nelson says he changed his mind after more money was injected into the company by owner Ralph Marquardt of Yankton….

Nelson says he supports the report from PUC staff…..

Marquardt told the Commission he would personally guarantee that no producers would lose money on grain transactions.
The company also has locations in Irene, Meckling and Tabor.
