Iowa Senator and Senate Finance Committee Chair Chuck Grassley recently met with U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer. He told Grassley no progress was made on key issues in last’s week trade talks with China.

However, Lighthizer told the Senator he’s hopeful there will be an advancement of the trade deal with China when their Vice Premier comes to the U.S. at the end of this month.

Grassley says they also had a productive discussion about the need to ratify the USMCA trade agreement.

Grassley says they’re still working on USMCA and the USTR wants it to be voted on in the House first, before being considered by the Senate.
