United States Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer is scheduled to meet with the Senate Finance Committee today to discuss the President’s trade policy. Committee member, Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says he expects the trade ambassador to talk about the upcoming renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement.
He says the scope of this week’s finance committee hearing and the upcoming NAFTA talks will have a significant impact on all three countries involved in the agreement.
Grassley says he’ll have specific questions for Ambassador Lighthizer about how ag policies will be addressed in the NAFTA discussions.
Grassley says the Trump administration has been busy working on trade and has had major success with China on beef, steel and seeds and has diffused a very tricky sugar dispute with Mexico that’s been going on for two years.
