Implementation of the USMCA trade agreement could be delayed until July 1. Several key lawmakers had called on the U.S. Trade Representative to push it back for the June 1 implementation date. Nebraska Farm Bureau’s Director of National Affairs Jordan Dux isn’t surprised by the possible delay.
He says once put into effect, USMCA has many benefits for not only Nebraska’s producers but for all of U.S. agriculture.
Dux says another benefit of USMCA or any trade deal is that it creates impetus for other trade pacts.
Mexico was the first country to ratify the USMCA followed by the United States and then Canada.
