The USMCA was signed today at the G20 Summit by the leaders of all three trading partners, the United States, Canada and Mexico. National Corn Growers Association Chairman Kevin Skunes says they welcome the re-negotiated deal.
He says the USMCA is a huge deal for the nation’s farmers.
And Skunes says with Canada and Mexico as neighbors to the U.S., a North American agreement just makes sense.
During the NAFTA renegotiation Mexico had been looking to other export sources, most notably South America, but Skunes is optimistic they will fully come back to the U.S. as a top source for ag goods.
President Trump says the USMCA is a much better trade deal for the U.S. than NAFTA and he is confident it will be signed by Congress.
