USMCA Passes Out of Committee….On to Senate

Tuesday, the U.S. Senate Finance Committee voted 25 to 3 to advance the USMCA trade agreement. National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s Vice President of Government Affairs Ethan Lane says a vote in the full Senate is expected either Thursday or Friday.

He doesn’t think the minor opposition in the committee will translate to the full Senate when they vote on the measure.

Lane says the market access that USMCA provides is critical for the U.S. cattle industry and so NCBA members will push for full approval.

Lane says there’s been good progress on the trade front recently and he’s hoping that continues through the rest of 2020.
