President Trump’s recently announced objectives for renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement have some positives for agriculture. That’s according to U.S. Grains Council’s President and CEO Tom Sleight. He says one of the key objectives included is maintenance of duty free access for U.S. agricultural products.

He says the NAFTA renegotiation will also serve as a template for future bilateral trade deals.

Sleight says some of the sticking points to the NAFTA renegotiation include the dairy dispute between Canada and the United States and some non-related ag issues.

NAFTA talks are expected to begin next month.
