A Latin American Trade team interested in ethanol production is touring South Dakota this week. The group represents six countries including Panama, Costa Rica, Peru, Paraguay, Uruguay and Colombia and are being hosted by the U.S. Grains Council along with the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council. Grains Council Regional Director in Panama, Marri Carrow Tejada is with the group and says their aim in having the team here is to expand U.S. ethanol export markets.
She says the South Dakota tour is a great chance to clear up any misunderstandings the Latin Americans may have regarding U.S. ethanol.
Tejada say the U.S. Grains Council has also some other teams from Latin America and Canada touring Missouri and Ohio this week.
On Monday, the group visited a pair of eastern South Dakota farms, the American Coalition for Ethanol office, the POET ethanol plant in Chancellor, as well as the CHS Eastern Farmers grain elevator.
