The U.S. Farmers and Ranchers Alliance is launching a new app in January of 2018 to help farmers tell their story on social media. USFRA Chair Brad Greenway says the app is called Engage.
He says while there are farmers that are active on social media they are still being overshadowed by some of the negative information released by anti-agriculture groups and individuals.
Greenway says the public wants to know more about where their food comes from and who is producing it. Farmers can show transparency by inviting consumers on their farm through the magic of technology.
He says social media posts can help farmers answer the questions consumers have about hot food and farming topics, which currently include antibiotics and animal welfare.
