Used Machinery Market is Hot!

Supply chain issues continue to hit agriculture, including an unprecedented demand for used farm equipment. Industry experts says that’s creating a red-hot market like they’ve never seen before. Nick Wegener with Michael Wegener Implement in Cornlea, Nebraska says there is a major shortage of new equipment. It’s an industry wide trend and for most companies if farmers order a new item, they can expect a long wait.

Chris Bair with Pifer’s at Worthing, South Dakota says both their live and online auctions have been on fire. He says supply chain issues are just one of the factors driving the market.

Mark Stock with Big Iron Auctions in Columbus, Nebraska says used equipment inventory is also getting tight. So, most farm machinery, especially high quality used items, are selling for record breaking prices across the country.

Some farmers are also buying used equipment for parts since those have been equally as difficult to get. Unfortunately, these supply chain trends may continue well into 2022.
