On the heels of the Trump administration announcing it’ll seek trade agreements with Japan, the European Union and the United Kingdom, USDA Undersecretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Services Ted McKinney made a stop in Iowa last week. He expects Japan to be next on the agenda for trade discussions.
He says crafting an agreement with Japan is particularly important for U.S. cattle and pork producers.
McKinney says the key to successful trade pacts is making sure all the trading partners involved see benefits.
McKinney says he’s also pleased the U.S. just successfully completed the NAFTA 2.0 talks with agreement on the USMCA. He says once that’s ratified it’ll be positive for America’s farmers and ranchers.
