The U.S. Departments of Agriculture (USDA) and Justice (DOJ) recently launched an online tool that allows farmers and ranchers to anonymously report potentially unfair and anti-competitive practices in the livestock and poultry sectors. U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland had this to say about the new program.
This new tool will advance the goals of the Biden-Harris Administration’s Action Plan for a Fairer, More Competitive, and More Resilient Meat and Poultry Supply Chain, including by creating more competitive agricultural markets that are fairer to producers and consumers.
Secretary Vilsack talked about the benefit this program will offer and the message that it sends.
Users can submit information under their names or may submit anonymous complaints. If a complainant provides their personal information, DOJ or USDA staff will only contact them if additional information is needed. To file a complaint go to farmerfairness.gov.
