The USDA has announced an investment of $26 million to expand the availability of higher blend renewable biofuels in 23 states. Nebraska is getting close to $500,000 in that investment. Nebraska Ethanol Board Administrator Roger Berry says that investment will have a significant impact on bringing down carbon emissions and improving the environment.

Thirty five new dispensers in Nebraska will be getting that investment. Berry says this points to the need for the DC Circuit Appeals Court to overrule the lower court decision that disallowed E-15 sales all year long.

Berry says that by just asking for a re-hearing of that E-15 case that gives the industry enough time to work for a solution to keep that fuel offered year round and won’t effect summer sales this year.

This month marks the one year anniversary of the Higher Blends Infrastructure incentive program. To date, USDA has invested $66.4 million for projects that are expected to increase biofuel sales by 1.2 million gallons annually.
