USDA is providing more than $ 4 million in technical and financial assistance to Midwest farmers and ranchers for improving honey bee habitat. South Dakota beekeeper and honey producer Richard Adee says the funding provides producers guidance and support to implement conservation practices to create safe and diverse food sources for honey bees.
Adee says new habitat is badly needed for honey bees.
Adee says not only will this help honeybee habitat, it also will help increase pheasant populations.
Funding for the program is provided through the Environmental Quality Incentives program and applications are due Friday November 21. Interested producers should contact their local NRCS office.
