USDA Extends Value Added Grant Program

USDA has extended its deadline to apply for Value Added producer grants to April 8.  Center for Rural Affairs Assistant Director of Policy Traci Bruckner says the extension allows for priorities passed in the new farm bill.

Bruckner says the extension is mostly for those who have already put their proposals together.

She says there are two types of grants that may be applied for.

Bruckner says the best ways to create jobs and expand economic opportunity in rural America is by fostering entrepreneurship and small business. She says those interested in the grants can go to their website (cfra.org) or check with their local USDA rural development office.
