USDA’s Farm Service Agency has extended the enrollment deadline for the 2012 and 2013 emergency assistance for Livestock ,Honey bees, and Farm Raised Fish to August 15. South Dakota State Farm Service Agency Director Craig Schaunaman says that’s under the ELAP program and originally had closed August 1 but now has been extended. He says the prolonged period helps FSA workers catch up and gives producers more time.
Schaunaman says producers should get in touch or stop by their local FSA office for any details or to enroll.
ELAP was authorized by the 2014 Farm Bill which builds on historic economic gains in rural America over the past five years while achieving meaningful reform and saves taxpayers billions of dollars.
