USDA has announced it will be making a second round of Market Facilitation Program payments for 2019 just before Thanksgiving. USDA Under Secretary Bill Northey says farmers will be eligible to receive 25% of the total payment expected, on top of the 50% they already received in the first round of trade aid.
He says the same formula will be used to figure the MFP payments as the first round and farmers will not have to make another trip to the FSA office to sign up.
Northey says to date nearly $7 billion has been disseminated in MFP payments, so this round will be around half of that total.
Northey says USDA officials had hoped a second round of payments would not be required and are encouraged the Phase one deal will be signed to avoid a third.
