Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue today announced the USDA is rolling out three programs and $12 billion in emergency aid to help farmers and ranchers negatively impacted by retaliatory tariffs. All three are authorized under the Commodity Credit Corporation.

He says the market facilitation program involves direct payments to producers.

Perdue says the second program is the food purchase and distribution program where the government will purchase commodities and distribute them to food banks. He says the third program is the trade promotion program which will involve developing new export markets.

Perdue says further details on the programs will be rolled out around Labor Day, which will involve sign up and payment calculations.
