South Dakota’s women’s basketball team will host Creighton at 7 p.m. Wednesday inside the DakotaDome in a first round game of the Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT).

The 64-team field was announced late Monday. The winner will face either Minnesota or Milwaukee in the second round at a date and time to be determined.

South Dakota is competing in a postseason tournament for the sixth consecutive season and is making its third WNIT appearance in that span. Wednesday’s contest is a rematch of a first round WNIT game played last season in Vermillion and won 68-58 by South Dakota. The Coyotes and Bluejays are meeting for the sixth consecutive season. Creighton has won three of the five matchups and leads the all-time series 12-9.

South Dakota (26-6) earned an automatic bid to the WNIT by winning the Summit League regular season title with a 15-1 record. The Coyotes won 16 consecutive games before losing to South Dakota State in the championship game of the Summit League Tournament in Sioux Falls on March 8.

Creighton (17-17) earned an at-large bid to the WNIT after going 8-10 in the Big East and advancing to the final of the Big East Tournament as a No. 7 seed. The Bluejays lost 50-37 to St. John’s in the championship game played in Chicago on March 8.
