South Dakota women’s basketball head coach Dawn Plitzuweit has added Alex Antonen to her staff as the director of basketball operations for the 2016-17 season.

“We are all thrilled to be working with Alex every day,” said Plitzuweit. “Alex has had great experiences working with Minnesota women’s basketball, the Minnesota Lynx and most recently at one of the top mid-major programs in the country in UW-Green Bay. Alex has a great work ethic, he has worked with some great coaches in our game and we love the fact that he is coming home to South Dakota.

Antonen joins the Coyote staff after spending the past three seasons in the same role at Green Bay.

Antonen’s duties included planning team travel, assisting with on-campus recruiting visits, supervising student managers, planning and organizing summer camps, coordinating opponent film exchange and breaking down opponent game film.

A 2013 graduate of the University of Minnesota, Antonen spent four seasons as a student manager for the Gophers women’s basketball team. He gained Division I experience aiding the coaching staff in running practices, scouting opponents and breaking down game film.

Antonen also spent two seasons as a WNBA intern with the Minnesota Lynx and three summers working as a women’s basketball camp counselor for North Dakota State.
