USD Winning Streaks Snapped

Both the South Dakota women and Coyote men had basketball winning streaks snapped Saturday in Vermillion.

Washington forward Talia Walton put up 29 points and guard Kelsey Plum added 25 more as the Huskies defeated the Coyote women 77-64 inside the DakotaDome Saturday night.

 Washington’s win ended South Dakota’s 18-game home winning streak in the DakotaDome. The Huskies were 29-of-61 for the field at a 47.5 percent clip. The Coyotes shot 22-of-62 for 35.5 percent.

Dedrick Basile scored a season-high 20 points and Aly Ahmed added 16 more to lead CSU Bakersfield to a 77-67 win against the South Dakota men.

The Coyotes (6-4) had their winning streak end at five games despite a career-best 17 points from senior center Eric Robertson. Tre Burnette finished with 14 and Dan Jech added 12 off South Dakota’s bench.
