South Dakota shortstop Shelby Keil was named Summit League Softball Player of the Week for the period ended Feb. 26. It is the first weekly award for Keil, a senior from Longmont, Colo.
Keil was 9-for-15 with two walks and three doubles in leading South Dakota to a 3-2 record at a tournament hosted by Santa Clara University in California this past weekend. Keil drove in three runs and scored seven times during the tournament. She had three multi-hit games, including a 4-for-5 effort during the team’s 20-6 drubbing of Creighton in the opener.
Keil leads the Summit League with a .455 average this season (15-for-33). She has hit safely in eight of 12 games.
