University of South Dakota’s football team will take on Kansas State to open the 2018 season on Sept. 1 in Manhattan, Kan.

It will be a rematch of this past season’s opener won 34-0 by Kansas State before 53,000 people at Snyder Stadium. The 2018 matchup will be the fifth between the programs, which competed in three consecutive seasons from 1980-82.

South Dakota has faced three programs from the Big 12 Conference. The Coyotes last met Iowa State in 1959 and took on Kansas in 2013. South Dakota has faced eight FBS foes in the last six years. The Coyotes beat Minnesota 41-38 back in 2010.

USD will open the 2016 season in Albuquerque against New Mexico on Sept. 3. The team’s home opener will come the following weekend, Sept. 10, against Weber State.
