University of South Dakota quarterback Chris Streveler’s outstanding season came up just short of the top individual award in FCS football.
Streveler finished second to Sam Houston State quarterback Jeremiah Briscoe in the balloting for the Walter Payton Award given to the top player in FCS.
Briscoe became just the second repeat winner of the award in FCS history.
The two signal callers squared off in the FCS playoffs when Briscoe’s team topped the Coyotes 54-42.
Briscoe threw for 505 yards and four touchdowns in that game while Streveler threw for 520 yards and five scores.
