South Dakota freshman softball pitcher Rachel Cue was named Summit League Pitcher of the Week for the period ended April 13. It is the first career honor for Cue, who hails from Garden Grove, Calif.

Cue didn’t allow an earned run in two complete-game efforts against Western Illinois, the Summit League’s top hitting team in terms of batting average. In 14 innings, she allowed eight hits – all singles – and had eight strikeouts against one walk.

Cue was 2-0 on the week to improve to 12-7 on the season. She threw her fourth shutout of the season Saturday in a 2-0 Coyote victory. South Dakota swept the three-game series with Western Illinois to improve to 22-13 overall and 5-3 in the Summit League.
