South Dakota quarterback Chris Streveler is the Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) Offensive Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week, and kicker/punter Miles Bergner is the MVFC Special Teams Player of the Week as announced by the conference office Sunday.

Both played key roles in the Coyotes’ 52-49, come-from-behind, double-overtime win against Weber Saturday in Vermillion, S.D. USD rallied from 21 points down to register the largest fourth-quarter comeback in MVFC history.

Streveler, a junior from Crystal Lake, Ill., accounted for a career-high six touchdowns (4 pass, 2 run) Saturday. He completed 22 of 38 passes for 173 yards and carried 23 times for 125 yards. His 26-yard touchdown pass to Shamar Jackson on 4th-and-13 with 27 seconds left in regulation forced overtime where he also connected with Jackson on a 10-yard score. He ran for USD’s first two scores, including a 45-yard run near the end of the first quarter. It is the second time in as many games that Streveler has ran for more than 100 yards.

Bergner, a senior from Longmont, Colo., kicked a game-winning, 34-yard field goal in double-overtime to give USD a walk-off victory. The kick completed USD’s comeback after trailing 42-21 in the fourth quarter. Bergner also made all seven extra point tries, and averaged 48.8 yards on five punts with two inside the 20 and a net of 44.8 yards.
