The University of South Dakota has found its man to take over the Coyote men’s basketball program.

University of South Dakota Director of Athletics David Herbster will hold a press conference at 2 p.m. Monday at the Pit Lounge inside the Muenster University Center to announce the hiring of Craig Smith as head men’s basketball coach.

Smith is familiar to Midwest basketball fans, having served as an assistant to current Nebraska head coach Tim Miles at four different schools. Before coming to Nebraska, Smith also served with Miles at Mayville State, North Dakota State and Colorado State.

Smith gained head coaching experience at Mayville State where he had a record of 72-29 and three straight trips to the NAIA national tournaments.
