USD Expert Warns of “Holiday Heart Syndrome”

Excessive alcohol consumption during the holidays, especially by occasional drinkers, sends a higher number of people to the hospital with heart trouble than any other time of year.
A University of South Dakota expert says the condition is known as “holiday heart syndrome.”
John Korkow (KORH-koh) is an assistant professor in the Department of Addiction Studies at USD, he says people who don’t usually drink can easily drink too much this time of year…
