South Dakota women’s basketball head coach Dawn Plitzuweit has named Aaron Horn an assistant coach to complete her 2016-17 coaching staff.
Horn joins Russ Rose and Kayla Tetschlag, who were named assistant coaches on May 5.
“I am thrilled that Aaron will be joining our staff at South Dakota,” said Plitzuweit. “Aaron is a dynamic individual who knows what it takes to win and has helped build the Ursuline team to a championship level. He has been on both sides of recruiting, as a high school and club coach before he entered the college game. I believe that is a valuable aspect as we continue to build relationships with the players and coaches in this region.
“With the addition of Russ, Kayla, and Aaron, we have added three very special individuals and three great coaches to our Coyote family. I am excited to begin working together!”
Horn comes to South Dakota from Ursuline College (Ohio). The Arrows won the Great Midwest Athletic Conference regular season and conference tournament this season to reach the 2016 NCAA Division II Tournament. Horn coached the guards, worked on player development, recruited back-to-back GMAC Freshmen of the Year, scouted opponents, organized travel, monitored academics and coordinated the team’s community outreach.
Horn also brings coaching experience from the AAU level. He spent four years as the head coach for the Toledo Elite AAU Club and two years at the helm of the Cleveland Wolverines AAU Club. Horn led the Wolverines to two undefeated regular seasons and helped four players earn scholarships.
