Enrollment at South Dakota’s six universities was about the same this fall as last, with just over thirty six thousand four hundred students. That was down just under one percent from last year.
While the University of South Dakota was down ninety students from last year, President Jim Abbott says it is part of a region wide trend………

Abbott says the number of high school graduates in the state has been on a long slide down………….

Abbott says they did see more freshmen this year…………

Abbott says while nontraditional students are important, the major part of the growth will continue to be with high school graduates.
