South Dakota junior Tyler Frank and redshirt-junior Madison Mills have been named the Summit League Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week as released by the league office Tuesday.
Frank earns his first career Athlete of the Week award after winning the high jump at the Air Force Team Challenge on Friday. Frank cleared 6 feet, 11 ¾ inches for a new personal best. A two-time Summit League champion in the high jump, Frank improves his best performance for the third straight week. The Burke, S.D., native leads the Summit by more than five inches and ranks 42nd nationally.
Mills won the pole vault at the Air Force Team Challenge to collect her first career Athlete of the Week honor. A native of Reno, Nev., Mills jumped 13-11 ¼ for a two-inch personal best in the vault. She also helped the Coyotes edge North Dakota State by one point in the team race. The height ranks No. 1 in the Summit League this season and is tied for 14th in the nation. Mills moves to third on USD’s all-time indoor charts behind All-Americans Emily Grove and Bethany Buell.
South Dakota splits between the Iowa State Classic and the SDSU Classic to compete this weekend.
