Despite the Coronavirus pandemic, the United States Cattlemen’s Association says 2020 was a successful year for them policy wise. USCA President Brooke Miller says they saw progress with truth in labeling legislation and look forward to advancing even further in 2021.

He says the pandemic helped them get many of their priorities over the goal line because Congress was more willing to listen to them due to the Covid 19 impacts.

Miller says going forward, they want to see Senator Grassley’s 50-14 legislation passed which would require packers to get fifty percent of their cattle from the spot market.

Miller says they’re looking forward to working with former Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack who’s been nominated to lead USDA once again at his old job.
