U.S. Cattlemen’s Association members worked on a possible reinstatement of Country of Origin Labeling and establishing a definition for meat at their Washington D.C. Fly-In. USCA President and North Dakota Rancher Kenny (gray-nur) Graner says he met with Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross who assured him that they’re working to get COOL into the final NAFTA deal.
Graner says they’re to make sure meat is defined as product that comes from a live animal and for FDA to prohibit fake meat falling under that definition. He says even non-ag lawmakers understand the importance of that action.
Graner says they had about 30 USCA members from across the country making Hill visits and meeting with government officials.
